Discover kusudama, a traditional Japanese paper sphere formed by modular origami construction techniques. Kusudama, meaning "medicine ball," originally served as holders for incense or potpourri. Today they're used as decorations or gifts.
This guide presents instructions for over 40 elaborate modular origami figures that range in shape from stars and flowers to kusudamas. Beginning and experienced folders of all ages will appreciate these unusual and eye-catching models.

While creating this book, my intent was to reach beyond current origami enthusiasts to a wider range of readers. I paid more attention to the things that more experienced modular folders may gloss over, in order to bring clarity to the process for beginners. My hope is that it will become a door to modular origami for those who have not yet tried it and introduce the art of making kusudamas as a wonderful new hobby to many readers. If you ever liked construction sets, conundrums, puzzles, paper modeling or any other challenges of the mind – you should give this book a try.
